WEATHER: Much needed rain on the way

If you're heading back to work or school today, you'll run unto a little more cloud cover than we've gotten used to but dry conditions prevail. Daybreak readings are in the mid to upper 30s to start (almost 10° warmer than Sunday morning). We'll have highs in the seasonal upper 50s to around 60° this afternoon. A shower is possible toward evening, but most rain will hold off until overnight.

We finally have a decent rain chance on Tuesday and Wednesday. A couple of disturbances will move across the area and bring one batch of rain late Monday night to Tuesday morning and then another Wednesday into early Thursday morning. 1-3" of rain is possible over the midweek period. It will be warm too, with highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid 50s to low 60s.

Because we are in the throws of a terrible drought, I’m taking a cautious approach as it relates to the percentage chance for rain midweek. At this point, I’m going with a 60% chance Tuesday and a 70% chance on Wednesday.  Also, be mindful, while rain is in the forecast generally for about 72 hours (Monday night through Early Thursday morning) the rain will not come in a steady fashion, but rather in bursts, perhaps even in the form of thunderstorms, especially late Wednesday.

We will dry out to end the week. Highs will scale back to the 50s for Friday and the weekend.
