Teen charged in Concord Bass Pro Shop gun burglary

CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) -

A Charlotte teen was charged in the burglary of a Bass Pro Shop in Concord Friday.

Concord police issued arrest warrants for 17-year-old Daquan Amad Erwin, who was wanted in the burglary. It happened sometime before 5 a.m. Thursday.

According to the police report, three 12-gauge shotguns and five rifles were stolen after someone smashed a store window to get inside.

The day after the burglary, Erwin was involved in a SWAT situation at the Days Inn on W Sugar Creek Road.

Three people were taken into custody after the situation. 

The incident began around 8:30 p.m. at the Days Inn when officers located a vehicle believed to be involved in the Bass Pro Shop burglary, where $5,000 worth of firearms was stolen.

Police saw two people standing near the vehicle, but the duo went inside a room when the officers attempted to make contact with them. When the suspects refused to come out, SWAT was called and a short standoff ensued.

Around 10 p.m., officers said the two suspects and a third person found in the room surrendered and were taken into custody.

Erwin has been charged with felony breaking and entering and eight counts of felony larceny of a firearm.
