Restaurants offering Veterans Day deals and freebies in Charlotte area

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Several restaurants in the Charlotte-area are honoring service men and women with free meals on Veterans Day - Friday, Nov. 11.

  • All 138 McDonald's restaurants in the Charlotte area will honor current and retired service men and women with a free breakfast sandwich from the "All Day Breakfast" menu.
  • Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Charlotte-area are offering military personnel and veterans a free Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit or Chicken Sandwich on Friday.

"We are honored to support the men and women who have put their lives on the line for our safety," said Beckie Johnston, franchise Operator of Chick-fil-A Stonecrest at Piper Glen. "We hope military personnel and veterans in our community will come out to enjoy this small token of our appreciation for their service."

  • Hickory Tavern is offering all veterans and active duty military 50% off all food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as a 20% off coupon to use for their next meal.

"We proudly salute the veterans in our community and all across America. You are our guests and we are your restaurant. On your special day and every day our restaurants welcome you and are pleased to serve you because you serve us," said Thom Perez, Hickory Tavern CMO.

  • IHOP restaurants are serving up patriotic breakfast pancakes to active and retired military, for free! The buttermilk pancakes will be dressed with glazed strawberries, blueberry compote and whipped topping - red, white and blue.
  • JJ's Red Hots is serving military members with UNLIMITED food and drinks Friday. The meal includes unlimited hot dogs, sausages, sides and non-alcoholic drinks all day.

"We are honored to treat them to a free meal. It's our not-so-small way of saying 'Thanks" for all they do for the greatest country on Earth," JJ's Director of Marketing Brandy Newton says.

  • Ruby Tuesday is serving up free appetizers of up to $10 to active and retired military. Vets will also receive a free brownie or cookie with any purchase.
  • Veterans and active military duty members can get a free lunch at Texas Roadhouse Friday. Guests with a military card can choose one of 10 entrees, non-alcoholic drink included.
  • Brazwell's in Ballantyne is offering 50% off to all veterans and emergency service members in and around the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area Friday.
  • Shoney's is giving away free burgers to all veterans and troops.

"It's one of our favorite days of the year as we get to honor our veterans and troops with a free burger as we thank those who protect our very freedom. Veterans and troops, on your special day, and every day, we salute you," CEO David Davoudpour said.

  • Olive Garden is offering a free entrée from a special menu
  • Longhorn Steakhouse is giving away a free appetizer or dessert and offer a 10 percent off for guests who dine with veterans
  • Chipotle will provide a buy one get one free discount for a small burrito, bowl, or salad on Veterans Day from 3 p.m. to close. Offer is extended to all veterans, military and military spouses with proof of service.
  • Golden Corral will offer a free sit-in dinner on Nov. 14
  • Hooters will offer a free meal for all military
  • O’Charley’s is offering free meals to all military
  • Applebee’s is giving away a free meal from a limited menu
  • Arby’s will give away one free roast beef classic sandwich
  • Bonefish Grill is offering free Bang Bang Shrimp
  • Buffalo Wild Wings will offer one free small order of wings and a side of fries
  • City Barbeque will provide a free sandwich platter to all troops and military veterans.

"Honoring the service of our veterans and active military is something that is very important to us," said Rick Malir, CEO and founder of City Barbeque.
