Voting extended in several precincts in two NC counties

RALEIGH, NC (WBTV) -

The North Carolina State Board of Elections has extended voting hours at several precincts Tuesday night after there were delays during the day that interrupted voting.

The board voted to extend voting at the Bogue precinct at Hallsboro Fire Department in Columbus County for 30 minutes. The voting will now end at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The board also voted to keep eight precincts open for a various amounts of times in Durham County.

An extension in Dare County was also discussed, but the board voted not to extend hours there.

Lawyers for both the Republican party and Democratic party were on the conference call. Rev. Dr. William J. Barber, the head of the North Carolina NAACP spoke at the end of the call.

The board discussed the extension in a conference call that lasted nearly an hour Tuesday night.
