WBTV Speak Out Editorial: Your Vote Matters!

“Speak Out” is an expression of opinion from the Editorial Board of WBTV, and is presented by General Manager, Scott Dempsey.

November 8.  That is the day we will all express our opinions on how we would like our government to work for us.  We may not like the choices we have, but at least we do have choices.  There are people all over the world that have no choice and have never had a choice.

You've heard it many times before, and we here at WBTV can't say this enough: your vote matters. Despite your feelings about this election season, voting is your right as an American citizen...your civic duty.

There are individuals up and down the ticket whose decisions could have a huge impact on your daily life.  Those you support or disagree with can't win if they don't have enough votes.  There are items on the ballot that involve other issues, such as how your tax dollars will be spent, and your local government wants your input.

We know many of you have strong feelings about issues that affect our area.  This is your chance to make your voice heard.  Let your passion be reflected in your actions.  Whether your candidates win or not, make your vote count!

So Please make sure you exercise your right to vote on November 8.  Many have fought and died so you would have this right.   It's not all about the top of the ticket.  It's about every position from President to local judges.  Our future is in our hands.  YOUR vote matters!
