UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Raising $1.1 million during our St. Jude Dream Home giveaway campaign was an amazing milestone. The icing on the cake, though, was being there when the winner of the home saw it for the first time!

WBTV's Christine Sperow met this year's winners at the home for the big moment.

"What do you think?," Christine asked as they walked inside for the first time. "It's gorgeous," said Terrie Steele.

This was a key moment for Terrie and her husband, Charlie, from Rock Hill. For Terrie, it was still sinking in that the house is theirs after hearing her name called live on TV during the Dream Home giveaway special on October 13.

"I watched you go through a couple of them and then you called my name," said Terrie while laughing. "It's still shocking just to think about it."

Home alone at the time, Terri said she tried to call Charlie who didn't believe her at first.

"Then he called me back and was like, 'OK, let's get serious.' I said 'I am serious, she just called the name!,'" said Terrie.

Which brings us to the day they walked through each part of their new home inside and out.

"You really couldn't have planned it any more perfect," said Terrie about the layout. "I've seen pictures, but this is nothing like the pictures. It really didn't do it justice at all."

What's special to know is that even though they won the big prize, Terrie and Charlie haven't lost sight on what this is ultimately about.

"It's just a way to give back to the community," said Charlie. "And the children are really the ones who need the help," Terrie added.

The Steele family bought Dream Home tickets the first two years of our campaign as well as this year. Now that they have won, it's safe to say the third time is a charm!
