TROUTMAN, NC (WBTV) - This is one of those stories where it's not exactly Good News just yet, but we hope it will be soon. Steve the miniature donkey went missing October 9 from his home in Troutman on Perth Road.

His owners are hoping someone may know where he is.

The tiny brown guy belongs to Tammy Swedland and her fiancé. But Steve isn't just a missing pet, he's a missing soon-to-be dad.

"She's pregnant with his baby, which she's probably going to have in December," Tammy said pointing to a forlorn looking donkey named Ginny.

Steve and Ginny hit it off from the start. Tammy considers them a couple.

Now, I know what you're thinking.. old Steve started getting the pre-baby jitters and took off. But Tammy says that's not the case.

"They were very close. So no way," Tammy said.

So where is Steve the miniature donkey? The electric fence was hot the night he went missing, so it's not likely he escaped from his pen in Troutman. And Tammy says she's tried everything to find him.

"We contacted police, animal control - and nothing. Nobody's seen him." Tammy said.

She's also posted on numerous missing pet websites.

So here's your chance to be a hero. Take a look. Steve is brown and really, really little. There likely aren't a lot of really, really little brown donkeys running around loose.

Help bring a baby back home to his mama, a husband back home to his wife, and a dad back home to his soon to be newborn.

If you know where Steve is, send us an e-mail at
