CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Each week during the school year, Project L.I.F.T. selects a student who is excelling not only inside the classroom, but outside as well. The student - along with their favorite teacher - is featured every Wednesday on WBTV News on Bounce at 8 p.m. The program operates within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System.
This week's scholar is Matthew Sylver, 3rd grader at Allenbrook Elementary.
Matthew Sylver is 8 years old. He loves Allenbrook because he knows most of the students and has a lot of friends. Matthew is a very hardworking student and has a growth mindset to improve his academics.
His favorite subject is math because it's easy to him. Matthew said, "If you use your strategies like putting the numbers on top of each other, you find the answer easily."
He thanks his 1st grade teacher, Ms. Gaymon for a lot of his success in the classroom. She helped Matthew when he had trouble with another student. After Ms. Gaymon's help, he didn't have any other trouble.
