CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

The state of North Carolina is offering a $5,000 reward for information in the firebombing of the Orange County Republican Party Headquarters, Gov. Pat McCrory announced Wednesday.

Somebody reportedly threw a bottle of flammable liquid through the GOP office window Sunday, setting campaign signs, supplies and furniture on fire before the flames eventually self-extinguished.

A building adjacent to the GOP office on Ja-Max Drive was also vandalized with a swastika and “Nazi Republicans get out of town or else” spray painted on the side.

"The firebombing of a local political headquarters was clearly an act of intimidation and I'm going to do everything I can to find the individual or individuals who committed this assault on our democracy," McCrory said Wednesday. "I remain committed to using every resource as governor to assist local authorities in this investigation."

McCrory called the firebombing "an attack on our democracy."

The governor said the state is offering the $5,000 reward "for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the firebombing."

Anyone with information is asked to call the State Bureau of Investigation at (919) 662-4500.
