Animal cruelty, larceny case under investigation in Union County

UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

A German shepherd was found with a gunshot wound in Monroe, prompting an animal cruelty and larceny investigation. 

The Union County Sheriff's Office says two dogs were reported stolen from a home in the 6600 block of Morgan Mill Road on Oct. 10. Three days later, deputies say the dogs were found within a mile of their home. 

The German shepherd was suffering from a gunshot wound, deputies say.
