JCSU Women’s Basketball Picked Third, Asha Jordan Voted to Preseason All-CIAA Team
Charlotte, N.C. (Oct. 14, 2016) – The Johnson C. Smith University women’s basketball team has been picked to finish third while sophomore guard Asha Jordan was placed on the Preseason All-CIAA Team.
Jordan, a junior from Monroe, N.C., earned All-CIAA Tournament honors last season. In last year’s tournament, she averaged 16 points and scored a game-high 18 in JCSU’s 70-50 first round win over Elizabeth City State.
Last season, Jordan shot 38.2% from the field while averaging 8.5 points per game. She also dished out a team-high 86 assists and had 49 steals. From the line, she shot 60% and was JCSU leader in minutes played (25.6).
As a team, JCSU was picked to finish third after a 17-12 outing last season, including a 9-7 CIAA record. The Golden Bulls also posted a 9-5 record in home games.
The 2016-17 season will begin on Nov. 11-12 when the Golden Bulls host the JCSU Conference Challenge. JCSU will take on Slippery Rock on Nov. 11 at 6:00 p.m. and Seton Hill at 2:00 p.m. on Nov. 12.
