A great white shark cage diving trip in Mexico takes a dramatic turn as a shark breaks through the bars with a diver inside, a video posted by Gabe and Garrett shows.

Gabe and Garrett posted the video on YouTube Thursday, generating hundreds of thousands of views.

"What might appear to be an aggressive great white shark trying to attack the cage, this is not the case," Gabe and Garret said.

The man who posted the video, the dad of "Gabe and Garrett," who the YouTube channel appears to be named after, says the video was shot on his trip to Guadalupe Island.

The man says the shark is actually biting at large chunks of tuna. "When a great white shark lunges and bites something, it is temporarily blinded. They also cannot swim backwards."

Gabe and Garrett says the great white lunged at the bait, and unable to swim backwards, thrust forward and broke the metal-railed cage.

So what about the diver inside?

The person inside, an experienced dive instructor, ended up outside the bottom of the cage, "looking down on two great white sharks," Gabe and Garrett says.

The diver swims up and climbs out after the shark is seen thrashing back out of the cage.

"The boat crew did an outstanding job, lifting the top of the cage, analyzing the frenzied situation, and the shark was out after a few long seconds, Gabe and Garret added.

The crew apparently returned to the cages the next day.

"The boat owner, captain, and crew are to be commended for making what could've been a tragic event into a happy ending. I'm sure God and luck had a bit to do with it too!"

The man who shot the video says he wants to return next year "for another great white shark adventure."
