ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) -

A soon-to-be married couple in Rock Hill decided to use their loss as a way to bring joy to others after their coastal wedding was canceled by Hurricane Matthew.

Andrew Matuskowitz and his fiancée Elizabeth Gilbert planned to have their wedding in Charleston, SC, over the weekend. A mandatory evacuation of the coast because of the Hurricane meant the couple had to postpone their wedding.

That left them with a dilemma - what to do with their pre-ordered wedding flowers.

The couple decided to take the flowers to Piedmont Medical Center and deliver them to patients that transferred from coastal-area hospitals. The patients included new mothers and patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Once the flowers were dropped off, Piedmont Medical staff members collected vases and made bouquets for their patients.

"The Lord sent you," one woman, who was having her first round of chemotherapy, said to Andrew and Elizabeth during an emotional conversation on FaceTime, which was posted to Youtube.

The patient said Andrew and Elizabeth's new wedding date, November 5, will mark her and her husband's 50th wedding anniversary.
