LANCASTER COUNTY, SC (WBTV) -

A teenager has been arrested after deputies say he shot and killed a man in Lancaster over the weekend.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened along 13th Street Sunday afternoon around 12:42 p.m. When deputies arrived they found 30-year-old Devone Frazier lying on his back in the street.

Frazier was transported to Springs Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kenneth Jerome Hood, Jr., 19, was found at the Palmetto Place Apartments on Pardue Street early Monday morning. He taken into custody at approximately after reportedly running from officers.

Hood was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

“This homicide occurred in broad daylight on a Sunday in the street around the corner from a church during services.  Hood became our suspect soon after the incident occurred," Sheriff Barry Faile said. "We received information from many sources yesterday and last night which gave us what we needed to obtain warrants for Hood’s arrest. We received more information early this morning on Hood’s whereabouts which allowed us to quickly take him into custody."

"This is exactly the kind of cooperation we need from citizens, and I appreciate the help of all those who came forward," Sheriff Faile continued. "I also want to thank our patrol officers and investigators for their hard work and persistence which allowed us to solve this case so quickly."
