UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -

Two people are facing chages in connection to multiple church break ins that happened in Union County last week.

Union County deputies say arrest warrants were issued for 28-year-old Justin Ray Patterson and 23-year-old Amanda Nicole Hickey, who were both identified as suspects in the case.

Patterson and Hickey are currently in custody at the Cabarrus County Jail. The pair faces charges of breaking and entering a place of worship and two counts of larceny after breaking and entering.

“It takes a special kind of criminal to target a church as a place to steal. A church should be off limits,” Sheriff Eddie Cathey said.

Deputies say Antioch Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Macedonia Baptist Church, Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, and Hillcrest Baptist Church, and Houston Baptist all reported break-ins last week.
