Potential for one more round of severe storms...turning Fall-like closer to weekend...
After Wednesday's storms, we start today with pockets of dense fog. Use caution this morning, as it will likely take several hours for the fog to completely burn off.
Later today, as one more spoke of energy rotates south around an upper-level low over the Ohio Valley, a few storms - perhaps on the strong side with damaging wind - will blow up over the mountains, northern foothills and from Charlotte on NE up the I-85 corridor. Before any rain develops, we'll endure one more very warm day in the low to mid 80s.
Skies will clear tonight, patchy dense fog may form again overnight as lows drop into the 50s for most neighborhoods.
Afternoon readings will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s Friday and through the weekend, with plenty of sunshine to go around. As for lows at night, they will fall back into the cool 50s all across the area. Nice and Fall-like for the first weekend of October.
