CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Justin Carr, the man fatally shot during protests over the death of Keith Lamont Scott last week, will be laid to rest Wednesday.

Carr's funeral services are expected to be held at noon at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, located at 2301 Statesville Avenue in Charlotte, the Charlotte Observer reports. Receiving is at 11 a.m.

Carr, 26, was shot in the head last Wednesday during protests in uptown Charlotte.

Rayquan Borum, 21, was charged with murder in Carr's death. He was arrested Friday morning and appeared in court on Monday.

Carr was shot around 8:30 p.m. on East Trade Street, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say.

Just before 6 p.m. Thursday, sources close to Carr's family confirmed he died.

Several law enforcement officers were injured during Wednesday night's protests as well.

A public defender told the judge in Borum's case Monday that his client understands the charges against him, including an outstanding warrant from Georgia with a charge similar to possession of a gun by a felon.

Borum was appointed a public defender. There are lawyers at the Mecklenburg County courthouse who are offering pro-bono services for people arrested during the protests, but they are not involved in Borum’s case.
