Police investigating accident where SUV ended up in pond

CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) -

Concord Police are continuing to investigate an accident that took place on Friday where an SUV ended up in a retention pond.

On Friday at approximately 11:23 am, the Concord Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident at 1085 Northeast Gateway Court, Concord. 

Fire units arrived within 4 minutes and discovered that one vehicle was submerged in a retention pond with the driver still inside.  Fire units quickly entered the water and pulled the driver to safety.

Cabarrus County EMS transported the person to CMC-Northeast for observation.  Twelve firefighters responded to the emergency.

The Concord Fire Department was assisted by Cabarrus County EMS, Concord Police Department and Kannapolis Fire Department. No emergency personnel were injured during the rescue.
