Seven more arrests made, more wanted in violent uptown Charlotte protests

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

After the violent protests in uptown Charlotte Wednesday night and Thursday morning 44 people were arrested, but police said more arrests would be made. Some of those arrests were announced early Sunday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they will continue to identify people "that engaged in violent, destructive behavior."

Marcellis McKenzie, 30, has been charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny, conspiracy and injury to real property. Police said McKenzie's arrest is connected to the break-in at Buffalo Wild Wings near the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

On September 22, several people reportedly broke into the Jimmy Johns on South Tryon Street. Three people have been arrested in that incident including 17-year-old Jayden Harrington, 22-year-old Shakiyla Green and 22-year-old Antonio Gatewood. Harrington and Green face charges of felony breaking and entering, larceny, conspiracy and injury to real property. They were being held by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office. Savanna Lee Jones, 16, is wanted in this incident.

Gatewood was arrested for Monday breaking into Jimmy John's and and Buffalo Wild Wings last week, police say. He was charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of felony conspiracy and injury to real property. 

Terrence Shatiq Terrell, 28, is accused of breaking into a vehicle on East Trade Street. Police said, based on evidence gathered, they identified Terrell as a suspect. Terrell was charged with breaking and entering into a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny.

Khalil Wallace, 18, was wanted in an incident where an officer was hurt. Police said the officer was hit with a wrench in the arm. A windshield was also shattered nearby which caused glassed to damage the officer's eye. 

Wallace was arrested and charged with assault on a government official and damage to property. 

In the early hours of Thursday, September 22, several people broke into the Epicentre Sundries. Shattered glass filled the ground around the business and merchandise was stolen. Dana Denana is one of the people wanted in that case.

Tyteries Dunbar, 27, is being accused of the incidents at Buffalo Wild Wing, Epicentre Sundries and Jimmy Johns. He was arrested and charged with three counts each of breaking and entering, larceny, conspiracy, injury to real property and possession of marijuana. He was being held by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

An arrest was made in the break in at Kandy Bar on September 22 as well. Antonio Burris, 30, has been charged with breaking and entering into the East Trade Street business.
