CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A 40-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon on Little Rock Road.

Police said no other vehicles were involved when Michael Jermaine Catlin crashed about 6:30 p.m. while heading southbound near Glenmoor Drive.

The motorcycle was traveling at a high speed when it hit the median before crashing into a tree and a street sign.

Police found Catlin and his motorcycle in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and said that speed was a factor in the fatal crash. They have not determined whether Catlin was impaired when he crashed. He was wearing a helmet.

According to police, the motorcycle was a 2003 Suzuki GSX1300R.
