Salisbury shooting victim now charged with drug possession

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -

Last month Amarillo Deshaun Bryant was in the news as the victim of a shooting in Salisbury, now he's out of the hospital and in jail on drug charges.

Police charged Bryant, 34, of the 800 block of East Lafayette Street, with felony possession of ecstasy, misdemeanor marijuana possession and misdemeanor resist, obstruct, delay an officer.  Bond is set at $5000.

Officers were looking for Bryant in order to serve an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. He was spotted in a rented Hyundai near the Burger King on East Innes St., according to a police report. 

Police searched Bryant and found a small bag or what they determined was ecstasy. Police also found seven grams of marijuana in Bryant’s groin area, digital scales and two cell phones in the car. 

On August 30 Bryant was shot in the chest while inside a house on E. Bank Street.
