Duo arrested in armed robbery at Verizon store in Belmont

BELMONT, NC (WBTV) -

Two suspects were arrested in an armed robbery at a Verizon Wireless store in Belmont Monday morning. 

It happened around 10:28 a.m. in the 6500 block of West Wilkinson Boulevard. Police say the suspects, later identified as 20-year-old Carlos Jones and 24-year-old Neopolian Robinson, went into the store and robbed an employee at gunpoint. 

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers located the suspects in Charlotte and they were arrested. The stolen merchandise was recovered, police say.

Jones is charged with armed robbery and second-degree kidnapping and Robinson is charged with armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping, possession of a firearm by felon and possession of a stolen firearm. 

Both suspects went to the Gaston County Jail.
