WEATHER: Heat scales back, humidity lingers

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Fall will officially arrive on Thursday. While I can't promise it will feel like fall, it will at least feel a little cooler by then.

Today will be warm and muggy with highs in the mid 80s, still above normal, but an improvement over Monday's hot 90°. There is a 20% chance for a shower or thunderstorm, mainly south/east of I-85.

There's a little better chance for a shower late tonight and early Wednesday, but again, the risk is pretty low. An easterly breeze will pull in more moisture for the middle of the week, taking rain chances up to 40% on Thursday Highs then will be held to near 80°, closer to average for mid-late September.

Temperatures climb again into the mid-upper 80s for Friday and  the start of the weekend, but Sunday looks to bring cooler temperatures in the lower 80s along with comfortable humidity levels.

That's great news for the Panthers game Sunday afternoon which looks to feature pleasant conditions.
