CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A front approaching from the west will attempt to bring scattered showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms back into the forecast as it cuts across the Carolinas today. Moisture will be limited with this front, so at its highest, rain coverage is only around 40% today.
Better chances for widespread rain appear to be in eastern North Carolina where the remnants of Tropical Storm Julia will add fuel to the front.
If you don't see any much-needed rain today, odds are you won't see too much this week. A mainly dry pattern sets in for Tuesday with partial sunshine and temps hanging steady in the 80s.
Beyond midweek, there are mixed model signals, with some keeping us dry, but more presenting at least a chance for some much-needed rain. I'm cautiously optimistic we can generate some showers, but again, widespread rain seems unlikely. All models agree that we'll stay above the norm for mid-late September, with highs in the mid-upper 80s.
