CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A front, which will be nearly dead on arrival as it moves in today, will do little to change our pattern or our wet weather fortunes. Expect more sunshine and little precious rain. The mountains stand the best chance of seeing a stray shower. Even in the high country, the rain chance is no more than 30% this afternoon.
This same front will make sure that Tropical Depression Julia holds along the coast, keeping any much-needed rain south of the WBTV viewing area. Julia will amount to little more than a rainmaker over the Carolina coast, and most of the rain will likely remain offshore.
However, our rain chance will eventually creep back up locally as our cold front is expected to stall into the weekend while we await yet another front late Sunday and Monday. All that adds up to slightly higher chances of rain and possibly even a few thunderstorms over the late weekend time frame, especially into Monday. Even here though, I don't want to promise too much as some models are being stingy with the rain early next week.
High temperatures will gradually drop from the upper 80s today into the low and mid 80s Friday and over the weekend while the humidity will remain on the high side.
