CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A 52-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after police say he fatally shot a man in east Charlotte early Saturday morning.
Officers said they were called out to the 6900-block of Olde Savannah Road around 12:34 a.m. to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon.
When they arrived, they found 31-year-old Donnelle Quinton McDonald with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead by MEDIC.
Another man, 52-year-old Gary Lavard Austin was taken into custody and interviewed by detectives. He was later charged with murder in Quinton's death.
Police say Austin and McDonald are believed to be family members and were involved in an altercation that led to the shooting.
