CHERAW, SC (WBTV) -

A man was killed early Monday morning in Chesterfield County when he was hit by a train around midnight, according to police.

Cheraw Police Chief Keith Thomas said the man, later identified as 45-year-old Timothy Kelly, was hit near Marion Street in downtown Cheraw by an Amtrak passenger train heading from New York City to Miami.

None of the 262 passengers on board the train were injured.

Police are still looking into how Kelly ended up on the track, but Chief Thomas said there is a lot of foot traffic in that area.
