CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Some local kids went on a shopping spree Thursday afternoon with none other than Kemba Walker. The star point guard for the Charlotte Hornets acted as a personal shopper for about a dozen kids from his basketball camp.
"It's fun. And it's exciting," a boy named Ahmir said.
The kids are all a part of Walker's Basketball ProCamp, which hosts about 180 kids, teaching them the fundamental skills of the game. About a dozen from the camp were treated to a $100 gift card and a shopping trip at Dick's Sporting Goods at SouthPark Mall.
"It's really great, and I feel really blessed to be able to do this. And I just really want to say thank you to him for this opportunity," one young man said.
Walker shopped with several of the campers for about an hour.
"It's been interesting to see what these kids pick out," Walker said. "I've seen them pick out drinks and candy and stuff like that. It's been a cool experience so far."
