WBTV will launch a new locally-produced lifestyle program on Labor Day – Monday, September 5th.
The show, titled "Morning Break," will broadcast live from WBTV's studios in Charlotte weekday mornings at 9:00 a.m. It will feature a variety of content focused on the local community in a talk-style format.
"This is a perfect opportunity for us to highlight our community beyond daily news coverage," says Vice President and General Manager Scott Dempsey. "Local programming is what we are built to deliver and I'm confident that audiences will enjoy what this talented team creates."
Kristen Miranda recently moved to a weekday schedule after a successful run as WBTV's weekend morning anchor where she developed a great on-air rapport with Coach LaMonte, who regularly appeared as a guest to share helpful insights on life and parenting.
Chris Larson adds another perspective to the show as a host and feature reporter who will headline his own feature franchise, "Try this, Chris!" His co-hosts and show creators are already excited about the possibilities of putting Chris in all kinds of humorous situations.
"We'll have some fun with this show," says WBTV News Director Dennis Milligan, who will oversee the show's production. "Kristen, Chris and Coach LaMonte are genuinely great people and that will come across through the screen. They will not always agree on every topic we discus – and that's a good thing."
Show rehearsals are underway and WBTV invites the audience to follow the process online. Behind-the-scenes updates and sneak peeks will be a part of the show's early marketing strategy to introduce itself to potential viewers.
