CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Storm damage was present throughout the WBTV viewing area Friday night. Strong winds and rain mixed with lightning was visible to many.
A large tree came toppling through the roof of a home on Denson Place in east Charlotte. From the inside of the home, the tree could be seen protruding through the roof.
Another part of the tree crushed a vehicle parked in the back yard.
Luckily no one was hurt, according to homeowner Harry Morris. Morris said he was inside the home when the large tree came crashing down.
"I backed up when the wind got real heavy here because it was blowing stuff across the yard. I backed up into the living room. Just as I backed up I heard a heavy crash," explained Morris.
An officer from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department came out to check on the damage to Morris' home. The officer told Morris the home was structurally unsafe. The homeowner said he would be sleeping elsewhere Friday night.
