WEATHER: Hottest temps of summer on the way, rain possible

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Yet another day in the 90s for our Wednesday, with what feels like temperatures around 100° once again. Although there is a 30% storm chance for later this afternoon, we should not have widespread severe weather to the extent that we did on Tuesday.

Still, this time of year, it's hard to completely rule out an isolated severe storm.

Thursday will be similar as we get back up to 95° with another 30% chance for storms-- then the hottest temps of the summer are on the way.

For Friday and into the start of the weekend, highs will be in the upper 90s so it will feel like it's well over 100°. The high heat will help to cap the storm threat, so storm potential is only 20% on both of those days.

A weak (very weak) cold front arrives late weekend and early next week. This will knock temperatures down only slightly back into the low 90s, but will increase our chances for storms on Sunday.
