A Salisbury man has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a young girl over a two year period.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, the alleged victim, who is now an adult, approached investigators in mid-April to report she was sexually assaulted by Joseph Nicholas Shaver, of Salisbury, from 2005-2007 when she was just 10-12 years old.
The victim and Shaver were known to each other, according to investigators.
Shaver was living in central Iredell County at the time the alleged assaults.
Shaver, who is now 40, was arrested and charged with five counts of sexual offense with a child and 52 counts of indecent liberties with a child.
He's being held on a $500,000 bond at the Iredell County Detention Center.
Shaver is also being investigated in Mecklenburg County for similar allegations involving another female.
