BLOG: Coastal Carolina gives local fans a reason to watch the College World Series

For the first time ever, Coastal Carolina will compete for a National Championship in baseball at the College World Series in Omaha.

On the roster of the Chanticleers are 3 local stars.

Former Marvin Ridge football and baseball star Tyler Chadwick is the starting first baseman.  The senior has pretty much played every position for Coastal in his 4 years in Conway but has settled in nicely at first this season.

He is hitting .261 with 7 home runs and 42 RBI.

Senior pitcher Tyler Poole is a former Hickory High star.  In 10 starts this season, he is 4-3 with a 3-72 ERA.  He has thrown 46 innings and has 45 strikeouts.

Sophomore outfielder Josh Crump played his high school ball at Northwestern.  In a reserve role with Coastal, he has a .231 batting average this season.

If Florida beats Florida State tonight, the Gators will go to Omaha.  Former Charlotte Christian star Jackson Kowar is a freshman pitcher for Florida.  In 12 appearances, the freshman is 3-0 with a 3.37 ERA.

8 teams from the Carolinas made the NCAA tournament, but only 1 remains.  Even though there aren't more teams, there is still some local talent to cheer for in Omaha.

Can't wait until Friday for the yell of..... PLAY BALL!
