Joshua Putnam tells The Associated Press that businesswoman Pamela Evette followed Putnam and his wife down a street in downtown Greenville on June 15.
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - A prosecutor says there is no evidence of criminal wrongdoing by authorities in the death of an inmate in a South Carolina jail in March. Horry County prosecutor Scott Hixon reviewed a State Law Enforcement Division investigation of the March death of 25-year-old Christopher Bennett. Hixon says there is evidence Bennett swallowed two bags of drugs while being taken to jail after a traffic stop.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Prison officials are investigating the death of an inmate at a South Carolina prison. Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said that 56-year-old James Richard Gaddy Jr. died at the Livesay Correctional Institution around 1 p.m. Thursday. Clevenger said an autopsy showed no sign of foul play.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - One of three men charged in the machete death of a South Carolina nearly three years ago has been cleared. Thirty-five-year-old Rafael Barragan Alvarez of North Charleston was struck with a machete more than 100 times in 2015. Twenty-four-year-old Carlos Perez has entered a plea to voluntary manslaughter and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Charges were dropped against 23-year-old Jose Arizmendi.
