CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

National VCR Day is a day to remember the machine that ate tapes and allowed you to fast forward through commercials long before the DVR was invented.

So we decided to take the old relic to our favorite kids at Invest Collegiate Charter School in west Charlotte.

Imagine plunking the strange looking box down in front of 6 and 7-year-olds who think even a DVD player is old school.

“I know what it is!” proclaimed McKenzie Hampton who is in the first grade, “It’s from the old days, my grandma has one.”

Some kids just stared and stared into the "mouth" of the VCR wondering what kind of service the contraption might possibly provide.

Their reactions were priceless.
