Officials to hold press conference on firefighter killed during search for man on Lake Norman; Driver killed in York County crash - DETAILS on WBTV

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Good morning, Kristen Miranda here...I'm filling in on the morning show for John Carter all week.

It is a sad start to the day...as we learn more about the firefighter who died while trying to find a missing swimmer in Lake Norman.  Bradley Long, 28, was part of the search team...he worked with the Newton fire department and volunteered with Sherrills Ford Fire and Rescue.

A news conference is expected later this morning...we're working on bring that to you live. Our Ashton Pellom will stay on this story all morning long to bring you the very latest on how Long is being remembered.

ARTICLE: Firefighter killed while diving during search for man on Lake Norman

Last night a 20-year-old driver was killed in a crash in York County. Officials say the person was driving on Old York Road when they crossed the center line and struck another vehicle with three people inside. The people in that vehicle went to the hospital and are expected to be OK. The driver was not wearing a seat belt. He was pronounced dead on scene. 

NEW THIS MORNING: A 22-year-old is charged in a wreck that killed one person and left another person seriously injured in southwest Charlotte last night. It happened around 5:40 p.m. on Shopton Road west.

New safety concerns at a busy apartment complex in the University area.  People who live there are worried....
