CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - I love that Charlotte has so many great restaurants, because I love good food, but I also love that they are owned by some very big-hearted people! Nothing better than when I get an invite to a celebration of food that raises money to help others put food on their table.
Have you noticed Wolfgang Puck's Charlotte restaurant at Phillips Place has a new sign? It's now WP Kitchen + Bar. To celebrate their new menu and concept, they decided to invite old and new customers to a private fundraiser to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
"Wolfgang Puck's Charlotte restaurant has always been a major supporter of Second Harvest Food Bank. We are thrilled for the new WP Kitchen + Bar concept, and thankful for the continued partnership with Wolfgang Puck and his team," said Kay Carter, President of Second Harvest.
Diners bid on a variety of items in a silent auction, including a private party on the WP Kitchen + Bar patio. They raised $3,000 for Second Harvest. The non-profit serves those at risk of hunger in 19 counties across North and South Carolina.
Larry Morgan, General Manager of WP Kitchen + Bar said of the fundraiser, "It was a delightful evening welcoming new and old customers to Wolfgang Puck's new concept in Charlotte. Partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank to raise money for their fight to end hunger made it even better. We look forward to continuing to support their cause."
I couldn't be there for the event, but friends gave it rave reviews. And ANY business that is helping one of my favorite charities has my vote. Thanks to Larry and Executive Chef Stephen Schmitt for continuing this beautiful partnership with Second Harvest.
The food bank will make great use of that $3,000!
