LINCOLN COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Brooke Cockerline, 7 of Lincolnton, has an offer for one of you.
She might have cCMV – a rare disease we talked about in a post on April 29th (read it here) – but that has never once stopped her from being a ridiculously happy girl.
Brooke's mother, Alicia, was thrilled with the many comments on the post back in April. She says she felt connected to the community and grateful you guys cared about her daughter's uphill battle.
Which is partly why she wrote to ask if I knew anyone in need of a power wheelchair.
"It was Brooke's chair," she said. "She can no longer use it. It's in great shape and works perfectly fine. She only used it a few times for therapy. I hate to just let it sit here grow cobwebs. Do you know if any other #MollysKids might be in need? We'd like to donate it to someone you recommend."
Donate. For free.
I'd be more than happy to see if we can find it a good home.
Alicia says it's a special chair. Practically brand new, just needs a new battery since it sat without being used for so long. The original price was over $20,000. (Wow.)
I'm not sure of the best way to do this, but I figure the smartest and safest way is to email me. That way we're not posting Brooke's personal contact information. If you are interested and have a child with a need for this chair, email me at email@example.com with your information. Put "#MollysKids – Brooke's Power Chair" in the subject line.
We'll see how that works. I'll keep you posted…
*Editor's note: This is about one of #MollysKids, children WBTV Anchor Molly Gr antham follows closely on her Facebook page. It was first published there – which is why it's written in a personal way. For years Molly has followed hundreds of kids with uphill medical battles.
