CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It is the hardest ticket to get on Broadway, and true fans have resorted to paying hundreds of dollars or waiting up to a year to see it. Now, Hamilton is coming to Charlotte.
Tom Gabbard, President and CEO of Blumenthal Arts, along with show producer Jeffrey Seller, announced Wednesday morning that the 16-time 2016 Tony nominated musical will be a part of the 2017-2018 PNC Bank Broadway Lights season.
The Broadway production, which is a rap and hip-hop musical that chronicles the life of founding father Alexander Hamilton, will embark on a national tour stopping in select cities.
"Every city does want to be a stop on this tour, but Charlotte is a beloved stop. Our theater fans are legendary both for turning out for shows, but for being very smart audiences," Gabbard told our Kristen Miranda.
There is no specific date for the run of the show in Charlotte and tickets are not yet on sale. However, they are expected to sell quickly once they are released to the public. Gabbard suggests the best way to guarantee seats to this show is to purchase season tickets.
"Hamilton has broken all of the rules and the expectations. There has not been a show this hot and in demand ever in the history of Broadway. It is making history every day and on the road we know it will do exactly the same thing," Gabbard said.
