Honoring fallen members of the military, Memorial Day forecast

Good morning!  Kristen Miranda in for Christine Sperow on this Memorial Day holiday.  I'm hopeful you don't have to get out the door early this morning and you can ease into the day with us on WBTV News This Morning.

We are, of course, honoring the men and women of our military who have given all they had to serve our country.  If you're looking for a way to honor them today, we'll tell you about events taking place in our area.  Plus we'll show you how Gold Star families are being honored.

The weather has been a real issue through the holiday weekend.  Bonnie dumped a lot of rain on the South Carolina coast.  This morning we'll show you where the storm is and how the cleanup is going.

A firefighter was injured on the job in south Charlotte Sunday.  We're checking on his condition this morning.

One of the co-founders of Salisbury-based Food Lion has died.  We now have word on when the community can remember him.

And if you missed the end of the Coca-Cola 600 last night, don't worry!  We have you covered...

John Carter is headed to the set now.  He'll be joined by Chris Larson who will tell you what you can expect with today's weather.   Mark Davenport is in the field this morning and I'll be at the anchor desk and in the Alert Center.  See you soon!
