CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A father in Charlotte was arrested after investigators say he put his daughter's boyfriend in a chokehold, killing him.
Parker Bogan, 59, is charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of 36-year-old Patrick Creek.
Police said just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, they got a call for a domestic situation from a home on the 6000 block of Cattail Court. When they arrived at the scene, a female told them her boyfriend, later identified as Creek, punched her shoulder during an argument.
Officers said the woman didn't have any visible signs of injuries. They completed a police report and explained to her how to move forward with criminal charges.
About four hours later, officers got a call from the same home to assist Medic. When they returned, they found Creek unresponsive inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said Creek was "attempting to physically assault his girlfriend" when her father, Bogan, put Creek in a chokehold. Creek, detectives said, died from injuries in that altercation.
"I do feel bad because he was a nice man," said neighbor Landen King. "He spoke to me all the time. I do feel bad. I have condolences for his family because I don't think anybody deserves to be killed over an argument."
Bogan was arrested on the charge and taken to Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
