Father charged after boarding bus, confronting bus driver

RAW VIDEO: Man confronts school bus driver

UNION COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A Union County father is facing charges after investigators say he boarded a bus full of elementary school children and confronted the driver about a conversation with the man's daughter.

The video was caught on cell phone video by a student on board the bus as the man yelled and cursed at the driver.

The incident reportedly happened last week, but investigators did not say where. School officials alerted deputies about the incident and an investigation began.

Early Wednesday morning, deputies arrested 42-year-old Jason Juaquin Garcia, of Indian Trail, and charged him with trespassing on a school bus and disorderly conduct on a school bus. Both charges are misdemeanors.

Garcia appeared in front of a magistrate and was released on a written promise. He is scheduled to appear in court in Monroe on June 14.

Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey reminded parents to contact school officials or law enforcement officers if they have a school related concern.

"Boarding a school bus to confront a bus driver is not the way to handle the situation," Cathey said. "Children should not have to witness this kind of behavior from parents."
