KANNAPOLIS, NC (WBTV) - A juvenile has been charged with setting a house fire in Kannapolis Wednesday morning.
According to police, the fire was started at a home along the 2400-block of Wellington Chase Drive around 10:43 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Investigators say even though crews were on the scene quickly, the home suffered more than $400,000 in damage.
A dog was rescued from the home by firefighters; the homeowners were not home.
Kannapolis Police officers charged a juvenile Wednesday afternoon with second degree arson of the home. The juvenile's name is not being released by police.
The six people who lived in the home will have to find another place to stay and are being helped by the American Red Cross.
