Richard Sheltra Memorial Service – Processional Routes

The following is a release from the Pineville Volunteer Fire Department:

Please find attached the Processional routes for Saturday’s Memorial Service for Firefighter Sheltra. As mentioned earlier, the Memorial Service will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Charlotte on Saturday May 7 commencing at 12:00pm and lasting approximately 1 hour.

During the service; a small procession of local fire apparatus will participate, to and from the Church. That local procession will consist of Pineville VFD apparatus only.

Emergency services agencies will be permitted to stand along either of the processional routes. The processional routes are as follows:

Procession One: Will travel approximately 3 miles from the Funeral Home to the Church. The procession will leave from the McEwen Funeral Service (10500 Park Rd, Charlotte) and travel to the Forest Hills Baptist Church (7224 Park Rd, Charlotte) via Park Road.

Procession Two: Will travel approximately 8 miles from the Church back to the Funeral Home by way of the Pineville VFD Station. This route will take procession two down Park Rd, to Sharon Rd W, South Blvd, Pineville Rd, N Polk St, College St, Church St, Main St, Pineville-Matthews Rd onto Park Rd arriving back at the Funeral Home.

As mentioned, agencies will be permitted to stand along either of the two processional routes. We urge you to please remain safe along the route and we encourage you to find a location that does not hamper the flow of traffic or cause a dangerous situation for your crews and/or citizens.

    Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board (CMS) voted on new leadership at its Tuesday night board meeting.  Mary McCary was re-elected as chairperson.  This is her fifth year being selected to lead the board.  She says she will be more intentional about her role this time around. "We're going to really pay attention to what our vision our mission."
