MOORESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A registered sex offender is facing charges after a woman says he secretly filmed her for nearly two weeks when she would take a shower.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, a woman filed a report in late April saying 33-year-old Lee Earnest Williams had been filming her inside a home in southern Iredell County.
Investigators say the alleged incident occurred between January 4 and January 18, 2016.
During the investigation, detectives discovered Williams had also created a profile and was active on Kik, which is a social media website. Registered sex offenders are not allowed to have profiles on social media sites that allow persons under the age of 18 to be members.
Williams, who lives in Mooresville, was charged with four counts of felony secret peeping, one court of failure to notify new online ID and one count of sex offender on social media.
Williams is being held under a total bond of $45,000, which includes the pending charge of fail to register.
Williams is currently on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry as the result of a conviction of statutory rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 in the state of Massachusetts in 2005.
He has three prior convictions in Iredell, Alexander, and Gaston counties for failing to register his new address. Williams currently has pending charges in Iredell County court for failing to register.
