STATESVILLE, NC (WBTV) - A Statesville man has been charged with sex crimes against a child after a seven year old was reportedly sexually assaulted.
According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, 33-year-old Kevin Renard Joyner was charged with four counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult offender.
Deputies say an investigation began earlier this month when a report was filed at the sheriff's office. The alleged crimes happened between March 10 and April 10.
The child was interviewed at the Dove House Children's Advocacy Center and additional witnesses were identified and interviewed.
Joyner was taken to the Iredell County Detention center where he was processed and given a $300,000 secure bond. He was also charged with a probation violation and given an additional $10,000 secure bond.
He is currently in the Iredell County Detention Center.
Joyner currently has pending charges in Iredell County District Court for Simple Possession Schedule VI Controlled Substance.
According to investigators, Joyner has an extensive drug related criminal history beginning in 2003 in Iredell County. He was convicted in 2015 for possession of cocaine. He had previously been convicted in 2007 and 2010 with multiple counts of possession and/or sell and deliver cocaine and in 2011 for sale of marijuana.
