CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - For a third straight day, high temperatures this afternoon fall just a bit shy of average, leveling off in the mid-upper 60s this afternoon thanks to a Northeast breeze. With plenty of sun, it will still feel quite nice. We stay dry and remain dry into the weekend.
This rain-free pattern is all thanks to a big high pressure system parked to our north. This same high pressure has also been responsible for the cooler than average temperatures as well. But as the system changes position and brings a shift in our wind this weekend, we'll start to warm back up. We'll still be mainly dry, as highs on Saturday get back to near 70° and by Sunday will rebound to the mid 70s. We could be into the low 80s by early next week!
While it's nice to have dry weather over the weekend, right now we're off to our 5th driest Spring since records began as we are approaching 4" below average for 2016. As of now it appears our next chance of measurable rain is not until Friday of next week, exactly one week from today.
Hope you have a Happy Friday!
