Molly's Kids: Hartley Plyler beats more odds, heads to campus

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - This is the reaction you want to see from someone when life hands them a chance.

Hartley Plyler, a long time one of our #MollysKids from Kings Mountain, was accepted into the @ClemsonLIFE program.

LIFE stands for "Learning Is For Everyone." It's designed for students with intellectual disabilities who want to experience a college campus. It provides career studies… but also self-awareness and personal improvement through job internships and community work. Consider it campus life for kids born with obstacles most of us can't imagine.

People like Hartley. She's determined and successful. Among other things, she was told she'd never walk, but has completed a 5k.

Hartley's parents have exhausted their funds paying for her medical procedures over the years so IF they can work out the funding and Hartley goes, she'll live at Clemson and be a real student.

This video is her response to the acceptance letter.

Way to go, Hartley.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Hartley and is available here. A Poker Run is set for Saturday, May 7 at Tiley's H-D of Statesville. Click HERE for more info.

For years Molly has followed hundreds of kids with uphill medical battles. Find this story (and updates on all #MollysKids) here.
