4-year-old Matthews boy makes genius debut on The Steve Harvey Show

Local child to be on The Steve Harvey Show

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A few months ago, 4-year-old Tommy Johnston wowed viewers with his unbelievable knowledge of U.S. Presidents. The sweet and bubbly kid also knows a lot about the solar system and the different systems of the human body.

His story was so great, the producers of The Steve Harvey Show had to have him on their show too! Tommy flew with his mom and dad, Allen and Christy Johnston, to Chicago for a taping.

"He had his own little green room with his name on the door and everything," Tommy's dad said.

The very special episode features hysterical interactions between Tommy and the king of kid interviews, Steve Harvey.

While taping, Tommy told Steve about who he'd vote for if he was old enough to vote. He also told Steve all about President Ulysses S. Grant getting a "speeding ticket" while riding his horse through town.

The episode airs Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. on WBTV.

We sat down with Tommy on Wednesday to talk about his big trip to the windy city.

"My favorite part was the children's museum," Tommy said, pointing out that they have dinosaurs there.

Tommy's mom Christy says that while he's still interested in presidents, his new focus is superheroes like Batman and Superman.

He's a typical precious 4-year-old boy, and he's sure to bring a huge smile no matter what topic he's schooling you on. Be sure to check out the video for a preview of his big national TV debut.
