BURKE COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - A 20-year-old man has been indicted on murder charges after investigators say his 3-month-old son died after he was reportedly abused.
Nicholas Brandon Clark, 20, was indicted Monday afternoon in the February death of his infant son.
The young boy and his twin brother were reportedly found at a home on Sunset Grill Street in Connelly Springs in late January. The baby was not breathing.
First responders at the scene told police they performed CPR on the three-month-old before he was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. The twins were then transported to Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston Salem.
The abuse was reportedly discovered after the babies were taken in for treatment. That's when doctors called law enforcement.

As to exactly what happened to the infants, authorities are not releasing details. Officials would only say that the investigation is ongoing.
Court documents released last month stated Clark and the boys' mother, 24-year-old Brittany Hefner, "did intentionally commit an assault that resulted in serious bodily injury, bleeding on the brain and neck injury," to at least one of the infants.
They were both arrested and charged with felony child abuse. Hefner is still being held on the abuse charges.
